Why this exists
AI video companies show polished demos and marketing claims. We wanted a simpler answer: what does each tool actually produce from the same brief? The mission is to publish honest, measured comparisons that help people choose a tool from evidence instead of promotion.
Who runs it
The Video Layer is run by a small team of video-obsessed people. The team tests the tools, reviews the outputs, and publishes the findings under The Video Layer name.
How the work is made
Each tool receives the same one-minute task. We record generation time, calculate cost per finished minute, and review whether the visuals actually explain the idea. The first valid result is reported without cleanup.
What this is not
This is not a directory, marketplace, or video host. We measure how well tools explain, how long they take, and what they cost. We compare outputs rather than repeat vendor claims.
